Float glass is currently the most common type of sheet glass used in the construction, home, and industrial fields. It is formed by floating molten glass on a surface of molten tin at high temperatures, resulting in high flatness, uniform thickness, and good light transmission.

It is commonly used as a raw material for basic glass products such as doors and windows, partitions, mirrors, and further processing (such as tempering, hollowing, and laminating). Almost all tempered glass, LOW-E glass, and coated glass on the market are originally float glass.

Float glass of different thicknesses is suitable for different scenarios, such as 5mm for windows, 8mm for partitions, and 10mm or more for exterior walls.

Understanding float glass means understanding the "starting point" of all glass processing.
